ABOUT ROBERT
Robert is a lifelong resident of St. Augustine and an avid fisherman and hunter, spending most of his time in the woods or on the water. This passion has led him to develop a lifelong commitment to preserving our environment. With his deep connection to nature and his hometown, Robert is dedicated to serving St. Johns County and making a positive impact on the community.

Robert seeks to continue his family’s legacy of public service in St. John’s County. Both his Father and Grandfather previously served as esteemed judges in the county. Growing up with these role models, Robert learned at a young age the importance of honesty and integrity in every aspect of life. He feels these qualities are important for the role of County Commissioner.

Philanthropy runs deep in his roots. Growing up, he watched his mother assist with the Junior Service League's efforts to preserve their local lighthouse and restore the keeper's house. The Junior Service League and lighthouse remain near and dear to his heart. Through his volunteer work, he has demonstrated a passion and a drive to make a difference in his community.
After hearing some really disheartening accusations being directed at our County Commission and seeing all the problems caused by overdevelopment and wasteful spending, he knew he had to stand up for St. Johns County. We need leaders who will protect the natural beauty of our county and he is confident that he has the knowledge and experience necessary to effect change for a brighter future and restore faith in our Commission.

Robert Mathis is running for St Johns County Commissioner with one goal in mind: to serve the people of St Johns County with integrity, transparency, and a commitment to fiscal responsibility. With experience in civil engineering and construction, Robert has the knowledge and skills to understand the complex infrastructure and development issues facing the county.
